  4. Policy Basics

    Policy Basics

    • Coverage if you are totally disabled from your own occupation for a specified period of time (generally two years, but may be shorter) and then totally disabled for any occupation
    • Guaranteed renewable to age 67, which means that as long as premiums are paid, the policy cannot be canceled
    • Receive base benefits in addition to Social Security or Worker’s Compensation
    • Automatic Increase Benefit will increase the total disability benefit by 3% on the first five policy anniversary dates
    • Waive future premiums after 90 days of total disability, including reimbursement of any premiums paid during the 90 days of total disability with our built-in Retroactive Waiver of Premium

    Options

    You can add options to your Personal Paycheck Power® policy. Some of our most popular options are:

    • Guaranteed Insurability Option Rider provides the option to purchase future base benefits without evidence of good health
      • Certain policy and underwriting limits apply including not available after age 55, each exercise must be at least 24 months apart and at least $100 and may be exercised no more than five times
    • Return of Premium Rider returns the premiums you paid, less claims, at age 67
    • Activities of Daily Living Rider pays additional benefits if the insured is unable to do two activities of daily living (bathing, continence, dressing, eating, toileting and transferring)
    • Accident Insurance provides 24-hour coverage, 7 days a week for both on-the-job and off-the-job accidents. Premiums are affordable and the Accident Insurance policy is available for both the insured and dependent family members
      • You must apply for the Accident Insurance Policy simultaneously with the individual DI policy
      • The Accident Insurance Policy will be issued to eligible applicants even if they are declined coverage for the individual DI
    • Retroactive Injury Benefit Rider pays you benefits retroactively from first day of total disability after satisfying the elimination period
  6. Return of Premium

    What is Return of Premium?

    By adding the Return of Premium Rider to your Personal Paycheck Power® plan, you will receive 100% of the premiums you paid, less any benefits received, at age 67.

    You can even select the refund method that works best for your financial planning. It can be taken in cash, left withIllinois Mutual to accrue interest, paid in installments or annuitized and paid out over your lifetime.

    In other words, you get important disability income insurance if you need it, or your money back if not. It's a win-win solution.

  7. Defend Your Income

This policy has exclusions, limitations and terms under which the policy or options may be continued or discontinued. For costs and complete details of the coverage, contact your insurance agent or Illinois Mutual.
Options have an additional cost. Availability of some features and options may vary by state and occupation class.

Pre-Existing Condition Limitation*
During the first 2 years after the Date of Issue, this Policy will not pay benefits:
(1) for any conditions diagnosed or treated by a physician within 2 years prior to the Date of Issue; or (2) for any condition which caused symptoms within 2 years prior to the Date of Issue that would have caused an ordinarily prudent person to seek medical diagnosis, care or treatment.
Exceptions and Reductions*
We will not pay benefits for disability that results (a) from normal pregnancy or childbirth; (b) from intentionally self-inflicted injury or sickness; (c) from your commission or attempted commission of a felony; (d) from war, declared or not; (e) from any military service, except during active duty for trainingof less than 60 days. The pro rata premium will be refunded for a period during which you are not covered for such military reason; or (f) we will not pay benefits while you are incarcerated in any penal or correctional institution.

†Total Disability Total Disability for any one period of disability starting while this policy is in force means:
a)During the first 24 months, your inability to perform the substantial and materials duties of your occupation and you are not engaged in any occupation for wage or profit.
b)After 24 months, your inability to perform the substantial and material duties of any occupation for wage or profit in which you might be expected to be engaged, with due regard to your education, training, experience and you are not engaged in any occupation for wage or profit.

Limited Benefits for Mental or Nervous Disorders, Alcoholism or Drug Abuse. The total amount payable under the policy for total disability caused or contributed to by a mental or nervous disorder or alcoholism or drug abuse shall not exceed a cumulative lifetime maximum of 24 months.
 
Limited Benefits for Foreign Travel
If totally disabled due to an injury or sickness sustained or continued while outside of the United States, Canada or Mexico, the Maximum Total Disability Benefit Period will be limited to 90 days. After the 90 day period, benefits will not be paid until returning to the United States, Canada or Mexico. Any benefits paid will be deducted from the remaining period of disability if you are still Totally Disabled upon your return to the United States, Canada or Mexico.
