Effective immediately, the following actions are applicable for all policyowners in the Illinois Cook, Kane, Lake, and McHenry counties.
- Moratorium on cancellations and lapses. For any cancellation or lapse notices issued between July 12, 2017 and September 30, 2017 to policyowners in these counties, Illinois Mutual will withdraw the cancellation or lapse and reinstate the policy with no lapse in coverage.
- Extensions on payment of premium and other time limits. Illinois Mutual is extending the time periods for paying premiums or taking other actions which have a time limit such as the submission of a claim or proof of loss.
- Availability of the Illinois Department of Insurance. The Illinois Department of Insurance is available for complaints regarding any disaster-related dispute or issue. Consumers may call the DOI’s toll-free complaint hotline at (866) 445-5364 or file a complaint online at https://mc.insurance.illinois.gov/messagecenter.nsf.
